Who we are
This service is operated by CRYME Blockchain Forensics, the responsible party under the Protection of Personal Information Act (POPIA). Information Officer: [NAME], info@cryme.co.za.
What we collect
- Your name, ID or passport number, contact details and address — needed on a police statement. These are encrypted.
- Your account of what happened, the payments you made, and details of the people you dealt with.
- Files you upload as evidence. These are encrypted.
Why we use it
To prepare your draft statement, payment schedule and evidence list, and to check payments against public blockchain records. We use it for other purposes only if you choose to allow it:
- Protecting others: sharing the crypto addresses you paid to — never your name or other personal details — with our WatchTower service, which helps exchanges block payments to scammers.
- Improving the service: using an anonymised copy of your case.
Automated drafting
Software helps draft your statement from your answers. Your name, ID number, contact details and addresses are removed before any text is processed, and you check and confirm every paragraph. [Where processing happens, and whether it leaves South Africa.]
How long we keep it
[Retention period and deletion process.]
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your information, object to its use, or complain to the Information Regulator (inforeg.org.za). Email info@cryme.co.za quoting your reference number.
